WORLD CUP!

We are now at the World Cup in Koln, or Cologne in English. It is a great event. The City of Cologne is situated extremely well to hold all the people here for the event. It has a really cool downtown old town area that is mostly pedestrian only. Their are a number of streets that have restaurants lining the streets. Each of these restaurants has an outdoor seating area that has set up some sort of Plasma or LCD TV tuned to the games. A couple of the more enterprising resaurants have the English feed so you can even listen to the game in English. These are mainly the myriad of Irish Pubs around town. Haven't stopped in for a Guiness yet, no need to as the local beer Kolsch is absolutely fabulous! Absolutely perfect for the weather we are having. Speaking of the weather, it was 81 degrees yesterday with a nightime low of 50 and 5 mph winds to just cool you down a little. No clouds, perfect weather for beer drinking and futball watching. Supposed to be even hotter the next couple days.

Here's a shot of the fanfest where you can watch the games on a giant screen. This was the first night that we arrived in Cologne.

Chris and Paty enjoying the nightlife.

You wouldnt believe the amount of alcohol comsumed at these events. I think Chris got a little buzzed after finishing these.

And what's a worldcup party without a bunch of drunk brits.

This guy says he has a cabin for Chris to stay in at the British open, but would you trust a brit with a wandering eye?

Yesterday we watched all three games at three different venues. Explored through the city in between and before games.

Here's a shot of Dom, a giant cathedral in Cologne, with another fanfest setup at the base of it. Unfortunately they werent showing the games at this fanfest.

The portugese feel it customary to wear their thongs outside of their clothes.

Elvis even made an appearance in Cologne.

We are going to attempt to find a scalper for today's Angola versus Portugal game in town tonight.
