Paris Trip

Well, we spent the weekend in Paris. Paty had a three day weekend as Monday was some sort of Catholic holiday. The weather in Paris was great! We spent Saturday trying to catch up on the lost shopping time that Paty has experienced with all of her visitors in Brussels. What better way to catch up for lost time, but to spend a whole day in Paris walking all around the city and mainly buying shoes.

We ended up Saturday night trying to go to the Moulin Rouge, but as the price was 97 euros each we decided to pass. We did hang out in that district for quite a while that night. A very interesting area, to say the least.

Being as that Saturday was Paty's shopping day, Sunday was our trip to Rolland Garros and the French Open. It was really fun. We bought grounds only tickets for 70 Euros total, not to bad. The face value was 12.50 each though. We could not get tickets to any of the three main courts. Here are a few pictures:

The first picture is us in the big square where they show the majors matches of the day. The second and third are pictures of me on the grounds and us at a doubles match. I think that is us watching the Bryan's win a doubles match. Actually nice to be in another country rooting for Americans.

We tried to go up the Eifel Tower on Monday as the view would be great in the aforementioned great weather, but the line was at least an hour just to get onto the stairs to the first and second level. I guess a lot of people had the same idea as us.

Here are a few more picturs of us in Paris, probably would be this year's Christmas card, but we did that last year. Altought this time with much less clothing as last year we were there in late November.
As the blogger picture loader is not working well, I will try to add the other pictures later. Paty took this picture, she has a slight problem with keeping the camera vertical or some semblance thereof.

The Arc de Triumphe:

I added this picture from the boat/bus we took on the river Seine, it is not a good picture of the Louvre from the water. But the reason I added this picture is if you look closely on the boardwalk there is a guy peeing against the wall pretty much in the middle of everyone. This is not a bum, this seems to happen a lot in Paris. When walking through the streets you have to be careful not step in any random puddles that are on the sidewalks.

On another note, I seemed to have hurt my back while playing sherpa to both Paty and my luggage all weekend. Not good as I pretty much have been in extreme pain all morning. I was thinking of renting a bike and riding around the city today, but that has pretty much been scrapped in favor of sitting around the apartment, eating advil and drinking strong Belgium beer to dull the pain. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be great. Most muscle relaxers are over the counter here, I think?

The plans upcoming are for my buddy Reid to get here on Thursday and the three of us are going to Cologne on Friday to experience the World Cup from ground zero. We are going to meet a buddy of mine in Cologne and the four of us are going to the US v czech opening match. Then Paty is heading home via train on Tuesday and Reid and I are heading down to Munich for a few days and then back to Brussels with one more night staying somewhere in Germany. I will do a post on that trip next week.
